Berlin Doctoral Fellowships in the Social Sciences

OnDemocracy has international linkages with several institutions globally. As part of our international linkages program, we also have PhD Collaboration agreements with other universities. These agreements include support for exchanges in any field of the social sciences between the University of Sydney and the WZB Berlin and Humboldt University.

The fellowships allow for a contribution of up to $6,000 towards airfare and living costs for a three-month period at the chosen institution. The fellowships are tenable between mid-April and mid-July 2012. If successful in obtaining a fellowship, you will be asked to submit a follow-up report on your research.

Applications for 2012 open on the 10th November 2011 and will close Monday 6th February 2012. Successful applicants will be notified by Monday 27th February 2012.

HOW TO APPLY

Before making an application for a fellowship, consult with your supervisor(s). Their signature is required to validate you application.

By applying, you agree to the following conditions:

  • You have completed the first year of your PhD, and work on your dissertation is well under way.
  • You will be based at the host institution for no less than 3 months, commencing in mid-April 2012
  • Visas, accommodation and travel will be arranged solely by the successful fellowship student
  • A brief research report must be submitted within 8 weeks of your return to the University of Sydney
